About Pam
Pam has worked in a wide variety of roles from office manager to social worker to small business owner but it was her work as a community education coordinator at Rangitoto College in Auckland that started her looking more closely at the issue of productivity. Why is it so low and why can’t we get it to increase.
Pam opened her company Extra Mile Training in 2004. She was keen to provide training for women working in offices or looking at returning to the workforce. But instead she discovered a problem that impacts the majority of our workforce.
Her research and experiences have broken new ground and shattered barriers about the connection between productivity and technology. Now this information is being released into the public arena so that everyone can use it to create a more productive future,
Pam’s book ‘Beneath the Knowledge Wave’’ promises to shake up the assumptions we all make and help us to understand how they affect our productivity. She uses real problems, real stories and practical solutions. Pam offers a fresh perspective that can open up new opportunities to increase productivity and improve customer service.
Pam is passionate about small business. She gave a presentation for the IT workshop at the first NZ Small Business Summit last year. She is one of the judges for the annual David Awards which recognise excellence in small businesses and has herself been a finalist in the Humour in Business and Westpac Enterprise North Shore Excellence in Business awards for marketing.
Pam is known as a serial connecter. She is a long standing member of Business Network International (BNI) and understands the power of reputation and referrals in building a solid business. She has worked on the committees of a number of organisations including Plunket, BNI and Toastmasters.
As a member of Toastmasters and the National Speakers Association of New Zealand, Pam has worked hard to develop her speaking and communication skills. From the Small Business Summit to Rotary and the Institute of Chartered Accountants to BNI and ConnectHers Pam has spoken to a wide variety of audiences.
Pam’s passion for her subject and wealth of real life business stories engages audiences as she demonstrates that we are not alone in being unsure of how much we do or don’t really know. Pam’s relaxed style and humour breaks down the defensive barriers we all put up and proposes ways that we can all buy into her vision to create a more prosperous New Zealand.
Pam grew up in the UK and has lived in Asia and the Middle East. She now lives in Auckland with her husband Alan and her sons Stephen and Craig.
